The December 2018 Natural Beauty Box

December's Natural Beauty Box was a festive treat to round off 2018 in style with a total value of over £115!!!

SKIN ALCHEMISTS SESENNE FACIAL ELIXIR, £85
This has to be the star of the show at £85! I've never used anything so expensive on my face. Skin Alchemists are as artisan as you can get, with only four products in their rather expensive arsenal. Having previously used the lovely Gorgeous Soldier chocolate body scrub, it was a pleasure to try something else from the brand.
In a lovely dark glass bottle, the elixir smells like Christmas and has 26 amazing ingredients, including turmeric, rose de mai, cacay and rosehip oils, myrrh and more. And how does it perform? Very well. It feels so soft, silky and light going on and leaves skin hydrated. It's a wonderful experience to inhale a few drops in the hands as recommended and then press it into the skin. It's a lovely treat that I'd never be able to afford to buy normally.

Ingredients: Caryodendron Orinocense (Cacay) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) oil, Carthamus tinctorius (Safflower oil), Salvia Hispanica (Chia) Seed Oil, Opuntia Ficus Indica (Prickly Pear) Seed Oil, Nigella sativa (Black Seed), Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) seed oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Curcuma longa (Turmeric) essential oil, Pelagonium graveolens (Rose Geranium), Aniba rosaeodora (Rosewood), Tocopherol, Pimenta racemosa (West Indian Bay), Pimenta racemosa (Frankincense), Commiphora myrrha (Nutmeg), Citrus aurantifolia (Lime), Rosa Centifolia (Rose de Mai), Commiphora myrrha (Myrrh), Citrus × clementina (Clementine), Rosa Damascena (Rose Otto), Theobroma cacao (Cocoa), Champacca, Jasminium grandiflorum (Jasmine),Calophyllum Inophyllum (Tamanu) oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Seed Oil, Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10)
+Limonene, +Citronellol, +Geraniol, +Linalool, +Citral, +Eugenol (Component of essential oil) blended primarily from organic and wildcrafted oils

LITTLE SOAP COMPANY ORANGE AND GRAPEFRUIT MINI SOAP £1
This is my first product from this vegan and Leaping Bunny certified brand and I was amazed to see how many supermarkets they are in, including those heathens Boots. I love anything citrusy and this little ray of sunshine lathers well and smells amazing. A great addition to the shower. It's worth noting that it does contain palm oil, which is RSPO sourced.

Ingredients: Organic Sustainable Palm Oil (Sodium Palmate), Organic Coconut Oil (Sodium Cocoate), Water (Aqua), Naturally Occurring Glycerin (Glycerine), Parfum (a blend of pure essential oils including grapefruit, sweet orange, spearmint and May Chang fruit oil), Salt (Sodium Chloride), Citrus Acid (Sodium Citrate). The oils are EcoCert and RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm oil. Made with 85.8% Certified Organic Oils. Made in England.

BUTTERWHIPS LAVENDER AND BERGAMOT BODY BUTTER £4
Another Leaping Bunny certified and new to me brand, Butterwhips make body butters for babies and grown-ups. I love the design on this, the bunny logo is seriously cute. And while I would have preferred tin or glass, the company make the case for using PET in their packaging here.
On to the butter and it smells divine (I love lavender and bergamot!) but I found it had a rather odd consistency. It felt very dry and it was an effort to massage it into the skin. However, once on, it did have great moisturising properties.

Ingredients: Butyrospermum parkii (Organic Shea Butter),Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil,Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Root Powder, Citrus aurantium bergamia Fruit Oil, Lavandula angustifolia Flower Oil, Citral*, Limonene*, Linalool* and Love
*compounds of natural origin within essential oils.

Even though they are cheap as chips, I haven't explored Benecos's vegan nail polishes before so I was pleased to get this one as the bonus Christmas item. A great party colour, it's a rich, glossy dark purple and I was surprised to get a couple of days without major chipping (I have terrible luck with nail polishes, they all chip within a day). I'd definitely try another colour in the range.
Ingredients: ETHYL ACETATE°, N-BUTYL ALCOHOL°, NITROCELLULOSE°, ALCOHOL°, CITRIC ACID/PROPYLENE GLYCOL/SUCCINIC ACID COPOLYMER LAURATE°, TRIETHYL CITRATE°, ACETYL TRIBUTYL CITRATE, BUTYL ACETATE°, STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE, STYRENE/ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, POLYESTER-26, DIACETONE ALCOHOL, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL DIBENZOATE, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE, PHOSPHORIC ACID, PERSEA GRATISSIMA (AVOCADO) OIL°, BIOTIN, CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE, MICA, TIN OXIDE, CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), CI 15880 (RED 34 LAKE), CI 60725 (VIOLET 2) * CERTIFIED ORGANIC ** NATURAL FRAGRANCE

THE NATURAL BEAUY POT SUGAR AND SPICE WAX MELTS, £4.95
I have a confession to make: I've never used wax melts. I know, I'm a dinosaur. I use candles and an oil burner (which is probably terribly old-fashioned now, plus I always burn it dry). These lovely beauties were sitting on my desk for a while as when I had used everything else, I kept forgetting about them. While I was working at my computer, I kept getting the most wonderful whiff of sugar and spice and I've come to the conclusion you could just put them in a dish and use them as a type of pot pourri, lol. That aside, I finally used them for their intended purpose and wow, I couldn't believe the scent punch they packed. When I used one in the lounge, I could smell it upstairs. I am a convert to wax melts and to the Natural Beauty Pot! 😍
Unfortunately at the time of writing, the wax melts were not on the NBP website, so I've included a link above to their sugar and spice soy candle.

ECO GLITTER FUN GOLDEN UBER DISCO, £2
As a lover of all things glitter and increasingly guilty about that love, I welcomed this beauty with open arms. The tiny glass bottle (which will last forever!) is full to the brim so it's really easy to press your finger over the neck and pick some up. I dabbed it in my usual places, brow, temples and cheeks and it adhered really well, although EGF sell organic aloe gel if you require sturdier adherence. It's a mixture of chunky and fine glitter. I do prefer fine but it was nice to pick up bigger bits and strategically place them. Needless to say when I used it on Christmas Day, my son still had it on his face on Boxing Day 😜Also of course, you can use this for craft projects so it's a winner all around. The EGF website has a full range of colours - treat yourself and the environment. Glitter is not just for Christmas! (I'd wear it every day if I could).

HORSESHOE BAY HIMALAYAN SALT SCRUB SWEET ORANGE AND GRAPEFRUIT £15
Another new to me brand, Horseshoe Bay was formed when Tammy's mum lost her battle with cancer. Each tin bought gives a donation to childhood cancer group Gold Geese. There are 3 scrubs on offer (all currently sold out at the website), and with pot luck I got the Epiphany blend of grapefruit and sweet orange which I'm very happy with, especially as it compliments my Little Soap Company soap! I really love a scrub and it's such a treat to use one in the shower. This one has very fine grains of salt so it's not like chunky ones I've used in the past which have hurt my feet when they've fallen into the bath. It's fairly dry and not too runny, with a great er, scrub and a fantastic citrusy scent. Total winner.

Ingredients: Pink Himalayan Salt (Sodium Chloride)
Coconut Oil Light (Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride)
Orange (sweet) Essential Oil (Cirtrus Aurantium) D-Limonene
Grapefruit Essential Oil (Citrus Paradisi)
