July Love Lula Picks

I had the pleasure of trying 3 spectacular products from Love Lula last month.

SKIN ALCHEMISTS CHOCOLATE COVE

First up, the long-anticipated by me, new body exfoliator by Skin Alchemists, one of my very favourite natural skincare companies. Brace yourself for an outpouring of devotion not seen on this blog in aeons.
THIS IS MY PRODUCT OF THE YEAR
There, I've said it, and I don't expect to change my mind before January.

This amazing scrub contains pink Himalayan salt, dead sea salts, cocoa butter and powder and a beautiful array of warming essential oils such as cardamon and nutmeg.

It's pink and its texture is damp and velvety. I urge you to start your exfoliating routine by inhaling deeply from the glass jar. Skin Alchemists products lend themselves very well to this olfactory stimulation. Every sniff hits you with something else. I get citrus (there's no citrus, lol) and cinnamon with loads of other things in the background. I saw a few comments on social media about there being not much in the way of chocolate in this. I agree that the name Chocolate Cove is a bit of a misnomer as the cocoa butter in this does not overwhelm the scent, (I would have called it something like Spice Sensation 😉), but the fact is, this scrub is so much more than that. Every ingredient has its place and contributes to an outstanding scrub. The exfoliation comes from the salt and coconut shell powder and it's highly effective, leaving skin perfectly moisturised and perfumed. I can imagine it being even more welcome during autumn and winter because of the choice of essential oils.

I've never met a Skin Alchemists product I didn't like, and this is no exception.

I thought this might be an update of The Gorgeous Soldier, a chocolate scrub that disappeared from Skin Alchemists repertoire, but this product is a different beast entirely. And probably superior, although I'd love the chance to compare them. In my eyes this company can do no wrong* and they set the bar so high that others can only watch and dream of being this good.

Buy this now. You won't regret it.

EARTH KIND FREQUENT USE SHAMPOO BAR

I've recently begun using shampoo bars and once I finish a couple of bits of shampoo in bottles, I'll be switching to them full time. This was offered by Love Lula as an extra product to try and I was thrilled to accept. Earth Kind are vegan and plastic free. The bar I received was for frequent use, which was a good choice for me as I've recently been washing my hair every day due to the hot weather. It didn't have the nicest of scents (I didn't detect any citrus and there's no essential oils in this), but what it lacked in that department, it more than made up for with its performance. It lathers up surprisingly well and really leaves the scalp and hair feeling clean. I did need a conditioner afterwards, which is normal for me, as most shampoos, bars included, leave my hair very knotty and horrid until conditioner restores it. Once my hair was dry, though, I was amazed by how soft and silky it was. This bar is a total winner and I'd 100% use this range again.

Ingredients: SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, AQUA (WATER), POLYGLYCERYL-4 LAURATE, GLYCERIN, ERYTHRITOL, PARFUM, PANTHENOL, BENZYL ALCOHOL, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, TETRASODIUM GLUTAMATE DIACETATE, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, CI 77288, CI 77007.

GORGIOS LONDON BERRY BLEND OIL

I came across this new-to-me brand on Love Lula and was very interested in this oil, as I've recently tried other berry oils and enjoyed them very much.

This is a blend of blueberry, cranberry, raspberry, strawberry and pomegranate together with grapeseed, jojoba and sunflower. Blends don't come much better than that, in my opinion. The outer cardboard box is printed with a bright berry pattern, which I'll probably cut up and repurpose, and the bottle is just as eye-catching.

The oil itself sadly doesn't smell of much, as I've found with berry oils (raspberry is strong, but not very nice, on its own) but here the disappointment ends because this bottle is a cracking skin treat. The oil is lush and non-greasy and sinks in well. I find it perfect to then add moisturiser before my make-up.

It's worth noting that the bottle states that this is a night time oil. However, I didn't want to be restricted to when I can use this delightful product, so I used it morning and night and I definitely didn't find it too heavy for day time use, far from it. It was perfect for both.

A total winner and one I'd use again and again.
