Review: Joik Lemon and Vanilla Body Range

I'm always banging on about things smelling nice on this blog. I just can't help myself. For something to smell of both lemon and vanilla, well it doesn't get much better than that in my book. I adore the scent of vanilla and I love anything that smells of citrus, be it toilet cleaner or perfume!
So when I bought Joik's Lemon and Vanilla Body Scrub and opened the jar and sniffed, I was already composing a glowing review in my head before I even scooped that first morsel out. 😀

Joik are an Estonian brand who came to my attention via the Love Lula website, which appears to be their sole British stockist. They use Nordic plant extracts and are not tested on animals.

LEMON AND VANILLA BODY SCRUB

This 100% natural vegan scrub contains sea-buckthorn oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, sugar and sea-salt. My advice when you first open the tub is to inhale the scent deeply and feel how it instantly lifts your mood! You only need a little bit for each part of the body and it is wonderfully exfoliating, turning to a milky lotion as you scrub which leaves a lovely moisturising coat on the skin once you have rinsed off.
If there is a better scrub out there, I haven't used it yet. This was my first Joik purchase and cemented my love for the brand.

LEMON AND VANILLA BODY LOTION

This divine smelling, 100% natural lotion is loaded with natural oils and vitamins. It does contain silk protein so isn't vegan. I also noticed that the ingredients list alcohol, which is disappointing, but I understand it is a necessity for some products.
It's a lovely lotion that goes on smoothly and sinks in quickly. The smell is the same as the scrub - just heavenly. When I was little, a client of my Dad's used to send me a bag of sherbet lemons every Friday. The smell reminds me of that 😊
However, before I get too carried away, I do have a problem with lotions v butters. I have very dry skin which needs a good thick butter. This lotion, while very moisturising, probably wouldn't do for me in the long run, although after half a bottle, I don't have any itching, which is a sign that my moisturiser isn't up to scratch, so I may be eating my words yet. I hope it continues to work as perfectly as it seems to be doing.

LEMON AND VANILLA SHOWER OIL

This vegan oil contains sunflower oil, sweet almond oil and lavender oil. It's one of those tricky ones that will run through your fingers if you don't get it on your body quickly but that's its only drawback. It lathers ever so slightly and a little goes a long way. I was worried it might make the bath slippery but of course, these are natural oils, not synthetic crap like baby oil, so that's not the case at all.
When I step out of the shower having used this, my skin feels velvety and glowing. Combined with the scrub, it's a double whammy of citrus heaven!💖

In summary: This introduction to Joik has blown me away. If this is the standard of their products, then I'm a convert for life. I can't wait to try some more of their stuff.
